How it goes

  1. 22:00Drive to the baseFrom the Natron camps to the foot of the volcano.
  2. MidnightStartSteep, loose ash and lava, headtorches, Maasai guide leading.
  3. 06:00Summit craterSunrise over the Rift and the lake, the crater floor steaming below.
  4. 07:00 to 11:00DescentSlow and careful on the ash, back to camp for a late breakfast and a very long sleep.
